How to Register for Classes

LVGH offers three open enrollment periods per year:
August, December and March.

To register for classes or refer please contact our Hartford Literacy
Center at 233-3853 or Wickham Center (East Hartford) at 528-7422
during open enrollment periods.

Please note that class size is limited and prospective students may be
placed on a waiting list. Students placed on the waiting list may work
on their literacy skills independently with guidance in our Computer
Lab until space in a class opens.

New students must complete an application form, take a placement
test, and be interviewed by a staff member. Qualified students will
be placed in an appropriate level class.

Participants in both the Basic Literacy and ESOL programs must
meet minimal standards. LVGH serves individuals whose reading level
is above first grade and below sixth grade. Students not meeting
LVGH’s qualifications for admittance will be referred to other programs
in the Greater Hartford area whenever possible.

Students admitted into the program must pay an annual activity fee ($20.00/year) and purchase their own books and materials.
