Volunteer for Special Events

Literacy Volunteers needs volunteers to help plan, promote, and run special events, particuarly our new signature event, Cele-BRAIN-tion.

No special classes or training is required of special events volunteers, although pervious experience in event planning would be extremely helpful.

Volunteer Responsibilities
Special event volunteers begin working on an event project about three months in advance of the event. Volunteers meet periodically with our staff and other volunteers during the planning process, and may occasionally perform individual tasks as required.

Volunteers should expect to spend considerable time on the project during the week it occurs, and to attend the event to assist in its operation.

How to Volunteer
Contact Carol "CJ" Hauss, 233-3853, cj.hauss@lvgh.org or complete our online application.

Our Special Events
Literacy Volunteers schedules Special Events: to raise community awareness of literacy issues and raise funds to support the agency's work.
Cele-BRAIN-tion is our signature event, an annual fundraiser featuring word and math games to test your literacy skills or simply enjoy great food and company!

Planning meetings are held approximately every two-three weeks from October through March with the event held in late April/early May.
